Welcome

(RITA!)HIV Treatment Alerts - February 2001

Welcome to the first issue of HIV Treatment ALERTS! This newsletter is for persons affected by HIV and their caregivers. Inside each issue, you will find the latest HIV/AIDS treatment information on drug interactions, side effects, new therapies, and much more. There is also information on HIV medical research studies now enrolling in the Houston area-studies that look at potential new treatments for HIV, management of drug side effects, or even better ways to treat this disease. In addition, a question and answer section has questions from actual patients and answers from physicians, nurses, and health professionals who care for patients with HIV. The newsletter is packed with important information about community organizations and resources, useful phone numbers and Internet sites, and upcoming events. Words in bold are explained in a section called "Definitions."

Knowledge is the key to survival. Until there is a cure for HIV, we must do everything possible to know how to take care of ourselves and the ones we love.
