NIAID Announces International Sites for HIV Vaccine Trials Network

Eight sites in Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean will join nine U.S. centers in the new HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), according to an announcement in Durban by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Under the terms of a five-year, renewable grant, the network will receive US$29 million in its first year. Selection of the nine domestic sites, along with central facilities for administration, data management and immunological testing, were announced in late May (see IAVI Report, Jul.-Aug.).
