Atazanavir 300mg capsule available

A new 300 mg capsule of atazanavir (Reyataz) in now available in the UK for patients using combinations where 300 mg atazanavir is dosed with 100 mg ritonavir. This will reduce daily pill count by one for patients currently using the 150 mg capsule.

The 150mg and 200 mg capsules will continue to be available.

The single 300 mg atazanavir capsule, equivalent to a daily dose of ataznavir, was shown to be bioequivalent to two 150 mg atazanavir capsules in a study presented at the 11th European AIDS Conference in October 2007. The 300 mg formualtion should be cost neutral.
