Unity Dow. 2000.

This is a novel about life in Botswana in the age of AIDS. It "tells the story of a Botswana family's struggle to cope with the devastation of HIV and poverty." It is about Mosa, who challenges adult authorities in her task of fighting the powerlessness and oppression that have made the family vulnerable to HIV. It is a moving story and one that could be set in any number of places in Africa. Unity Dow is Botswana's first female high court judge and long time activist for women's rights and rights of the poor. As a result, she has written this novel from the heart in the hopes that her message can be heard around the world. A recommended book for all libraries.
