The use of radiology has been an increasingly more important tool in diagnosing many of the diseases associated with AIDS. This book is the result of discussions that began at a meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago. The goal "was to provide a source of concise yet thorough, easily read, and amply illustrated material that would be useful to practicing clinicians and radiologists whether they reside in central Africa, western Europe, North America, or other parts of the globe where AIDS exists." Radiology of AIDS serves as a resource for diagnosis and treatment as well as a reminder that HIV remains a significant public health risk. It is a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge about radiological imaging features in AIDS.

There are 18 chapters, each authored by noted researchers, covering a wide range of topics, including pathological patterns of AIDS, chest radiology of AIDS, Musculoskeletal imaging in AIDS, Pediatric AIDS imaging, AIDS in the tropics, AIDS-related interventional procedures, and different radiological patterns in AIDS. The text is concise with numerous references and crisp, clear illustrations. Each chapter has its own table of contents, and is concluded with an extensive list of references. The last chapter, "Different Radiologic Patterns in AIDS at a Glance," is especially useful for those wanting a quick look at the radiologic patterns. For each organism/disease, in chart format, is listed the organ involved, radiologic abnormality, extent of disease, and differential diagnosis. A detailed index helps to locate specific bits of information. This is a highly recommended title for all medical libraries.
