Kate Scannell. 1999.

This is a very moving account in the life of a doctor in Northern California named Kate Scannell. At the age of 32 she found herself assigned to a county hospital AIDS ward where her intimate relationships with her AIDS patients are chronicled in this book. She served at this hospital from 1985 to 1990 and is now at the University of California, San Francisco where she is facing ovarian cancer. Hers is a moving story that will make you laugh, cry, and do some deep searching as to why are we facing this AIDS crisis. This is a highly recommended book for all libraries.
