My friend asked me to drive him to Glendale to spend the afternoon as guinea pigs for massage students. Hey, I thought, why not? Hot hands, hot oil, candles, incense and New Age music, yes? Actually not. My friend had the wrong info. Instead, I began the first day of training in Healing Touch. I hadn't even known a person can be trained to heal someone else. Now, after five long weekend workshops during the last several years, I'm certified as a Healing Touch Practitioner.
We started giving Healing Touch treatments at Being Alive in mid-1999. For 2 and one half years, we've given treatments every Saturday. A year ago, we started treatments on Monday and Wednesday evenings, too. Since we started, we have given close to 1,000 treatments to about 300 Being Alive clients. We're growing. We started with six treatments a week. Now we give twelve a week. Our goal is to treat 20 clients each week. We have six practitioners. Two more will join us soon. We are trained by Healing Touch International, an accrediting group headquartered in Colorado.
Being Alive provides space, tables, sheets, boom box and all the cooperation we could ever ask for. Treatment reciprocation is based on a voluntary donation. We want to treat you soon. Call Being Alive now for your appointment.
The main goal of each Healing Touch treatment is to balance your energy field and clear away energetic congestion. Then your energy system returns to its natural state of harmony. Combine Healing Touch treatments with other self-care practices, and your system maintains this balance more easily. After a few weekly treatments, even clients with chronic conditions may simply require a biweekly "energetic tune-up" to compliment their self care. A clear personal energy field helps ensure that your system is free-flowing so that natural healing processes happen more efficiently.

How Long Are They? Treatments last about 50 minutes. At the beginning, the practitioner spend about ten of those minutes to assess your condition and needs. About five minutes are needed to check in on how you feel afterwards.
How Often Do I Need Them? After three to five weekly treatments, you may need treatments only every other week. Frequency depends on your needs and available time slots. Schedule your next appointment at the end of your treatment so you never miss out.
Do I Remove My Clothes? No, you only remove shoes. Wear comfortable and loose cotton clothes. Silk may impede the treatment, so avoid it if possible.
Hands On or Hands Off? Because the treatment is of the energy field, physical touch is not necessary. It is your choice. If you prefer hands off, tell your practitioner. Otherwise, you may feel some light placement of hands on your joints and over your major organs.
More Questions? Your practitioner can answer any particular questions.
Healing Touch can be part of your plan for your health. If you take an antiviral cocktail, Healing Touch will balance your body to better benefit from the drugs and to deal with side-effects. If you aren't taking drugs, Healing Touch can help your body raise its own defenses. Peripheral neuropathy, fatigue, herpes, herpes zoster, diarrhea and night sweats all seem positively impacted by Healing Touch; plus, the sense of relaxation and wellness that occurs during and after the treatment give life a greater glow.
We are happy to be of service. Call for your appointment -- 310.289.2551.
