Drug Resistance Workshop (June 2004) Summaries Available

AIDS TREATMENT NEWS - June 30, 2004
John S. James

Summary: Two in-depth reports summarize the International HIV Drug Resistance Workshop, which occurred this year in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

The XIII International HIV Drug Resistance Workshop took place this year in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, June 8-12, 2004. An excellent report by AIDS writer Mark Mascolini appears at http://www.informedhorizons.com/resistance2004/ (click on "Rapid Report"). Posters and abstracts will also be available at that site (but as of June 29, 2004 they are still from last year's HIV Drug Resistance Workshop in Mexico).

Another detailed summary of the science presented at the meeting, by David Margolis, M.D., appears on the National AIDS Treatment Advocacy Project Web site, at http://www.natap.org/2004/HIVDRW/hivdrw_24.htm

Also see http://www.natap.org/2004/HIVDRW/hivdrw.htm for more reports from NATAP and others.

All these reports are technical. Mascolini's is less difficult to read because it gives the reader more perspective on how the details fit into larger pictures.
