Spanish/English Directory of Experimental Treatments
Information Bulletin #10 April/May 2000
The purpose of Information Bulletin is to provide brief, user-friendly, accurate and advertisement-free information about HIV research, treatment, and care. Please call (800) 734-7104 with comments or suggestions, or view online at www.aidsinfonyc.org/network. A Spanish and English language directory of AIDS and HIV treatments (clinical trials, expanded access programs, etc.) is now available. The Experimental Treatment Guide (La Gu a de Tratamientos Experimentales del SIDA) is a directory of treatments being studied in different programs. Descriptions include the treatments that are used in the study, who is eligible to join the program, and who to contact for more information. The directory also includes an extensive glossary of drugs and definitions of terms frequently encountered in the HIV treatment and research arena, descriptions and contact numbers for expanded access/compassionate use programs, and the entire Spanish language version of the handbook, "Should I Join an AIDS Drug Trial." Call the Network for more information, or to order your free copy. New York City residents and those who receive services from a NYC provider can enroll in The Network case management program to help them access health care and other treatment services, regardless of their decision to enroll in a clinical trial or not. Clients who decide to join a study may keep their Network case manager to assist them while they participate in a study. Physicians and other health care providers who would like information for their clients regarding access to treatments and coverage may also contact The Network case management staff at (800)734-7104.
