A study has shown that a drug called BV-ara-U cures shingles outbreaks in people faster than current treatments. Shingles outbreaks are due to infection with herpes zoster. The drug also only has to be taken once a day rather than five or three times a day like current medications.
Larger trials of this treatment are expected to open soon. The Network includes all new and enrolling studies in The Experimental Treatment Guide, published four times a year. Call The Network if you would like a copy.
