Decisions are the formal ruling from the court. A supreme court ruling is final: there is no appeal. The only way to "overturn" a supreme court ruling is by getting a law passed or changed.
A brief is a supporting document submitted to the court by one side's lawyer.

The United States Supreme Court is the highest federal court in the United States, often referred to as 'the Court of Last Resort.' Established in 1790 with six justices, the Court originally convened in New York City. Currently, the Court is composed of nine justices, appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate, who preside in Washington, D.C.
