Three organizations fighting the spread of HIV and the ravages of AIDS unveiled an information package of instructions in the care of those living with HIV-AIDS.

The information package was released by officials of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the World Health Organization and the Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service or SAFAIDS.

The groups say they are optimistic that the package can equip mostly caregivers with information on how best to help people in their communities living with the disease.

The Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support Training Package for Community Based Volunteers has been tested in several countries and shown to be effective, said WHO offricial Evelyn Isaacs. She said it is "client-centered and community-based."

SAFAIDS Deputy Director Sara Page told reporter Ndimyake Mwakalyelye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the package, which will be re-evaluated annually, will greatly improve the quality of care given to people living with HIV and AIDS.
