The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation has also declined to give the name of the production in which the actress was involved or the company producing it, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
Dr. Jonathan Fielding, Los Angeles County health officer, said cases in which HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, or other diseases might have been transmitted in the workplace are routinely investigated. He said the clinic has indicated it will not release information until it is legally required to do so, seven days after a test has confirmed the infection.
"I don't think we have the degree of cooperation that we would like in cases like this," Fielding said. "We'd like a little more proactive cooperation."
In 2004, an HIV-positive actor was discovered to have infected three actresses. The virus was found in another actor who had been infected independently.
Legislation that would have required the adult industry to adopt safe-sex practices failed to reach the floor of the Legislature.
