Jenna Bush takes on HIV, Iraq war

United Press International - September 29, 2007

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Jenna Bush, daughter of U.S. President George W. Bush, recently sat down to discuss not only the war in Iraq, but her new book about an HIV-positive teenager.

The 25-year-old new author said her book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope," is oriented towards drawing attention to the daily struggles that millions of children around the world face in relation to HIV/AIDS, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

Once known for her highly-publicized social life, Bush was alerted to the growing international problem years ago and now is attempting to spread her concern to other U.S. citizens.

"Because this name is on this book, maybe more people will read it," Bush said. "If that's the case, I'm so thrilled by that."

While the presidential daughter had some choice words about the current war in Iraq, she avoided criticizing her father's decisions to date.

"Nobody wants war," she said. "I definitely, and my father definitely doesn't want war. But it's a horribly complicated situation."

"But I can say it's devastating," she added. "I think everybody can agree on that."
