African archbishop details HIV conspiracy

United Press International - September 26, 2007

MAPUTO, Mozambique, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The archbishop for the African country of Mozambique has alleged condoms and anti-retroviral drugs given to Africans are intentionally laced with HIV.

Archbishop Francisco Chimoio from Mozambique's capital of Maputo recently alleged that unknown sources were intentionally attempting to increase the spread of HIV in Africa by infecting the medical products, the BBC reported Wednesday.

"Condoms are not sure because I know that there are two countries in Europe, they are making condoms with the virus on purpose," the Catholic official alleged.

"They want to finish with the African people. This is the program. They want to colonize until up to now. If we are not careful we will finish in one century's time."

Chimoio would not name which European countries were allegedly behind the conspiracy, the BBC said.

AIDS activists have since lashed out at the archbishop, saying his comments are baseless and that condoms are the safest way to have sex without spreading the deadly disease.
