Richard Churchill resigned from the organization's board, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported. He cited tours of bathhouses during last year's SEXploration Week and a deck of cards meant to be educational that features gay men engaged in acts that might lead to HIV transmission.
"HIV is a preventable disease and, here, we're doing things that are not preventing it, but complicating it," Churchill said.
The "Sex from A to Z" cards have a cartoon on one side and a description of a sexual act or aid on the reverse.
John Maxwell, the committee's director of communications, said the cards deal with behavior gay men actually engage in and with how they can reduce the risk of AIDS.
