The drug, a goat antiserum, is the subject of a clinical hold prohibiting its use until safety questions are resolved.
The FDA said the drug allegedly was stolen from Dr. Gary R. Davis, who alerted the FDA it likely is contaminated and "extremely dangerous."
"It is also possible that someone may try to sell this contaminated medication," Davis said in a letter to FDA.
The FDA issued an alert to health care providers and patients, advising them the drug has not been approved for human clinical study.
Anyone with questions can call the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at 800-835-4709 or the Office of Special Health Issues at 301-827-4460.
