AIDS virus traced to year 1700

DURBAN, South Africa, July 10 (UPI) -- The virus that causes AIDS jumped from chimpanzees into humans in about the year 1700, researchers said Monday at the 13th International AIDS Conference. Then, in about 1930, HIV began an explosive expansion, said Anne-Mieke Vandamme of the Rega Institute for Medical Research in Belgium.
