Mr. Morris was the former owner and publisher of The Sentinel, a weekly newspaper for homosexuals.
Mr. Morris moved from San Francisco to Denver in the spring of 1984.
He was a confidant of Mayor Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco. Although friends said Mr. Morris had been seriously ill since April 1978, he was not diagnosed as a victim of acquired immune deficiency syndrome until 1982. He then helped found two hospice programs in California for homosexual AIDS victims.
Dr. Charles Kirkpatrick, an AIDS researcher at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, said Mr. Morris survived four to five times longer than most AIDS patients. He said the average survival time is 12 to 18 months.
