United Press International - December 5, 1985
the first 10 months of 1985 with the State Human Rights Division, compared with only six in the previous 15 months, officials said yesterday.
In addition, 19 instances of discrimination involving AIDS or fear of AIDS were reported this year, although no complaints were filed in those cases, said the AIDS discrimination project coordinator for the division, Charles J. Eisnaugle.
The complaints were wide-ranging. Thirteen involved employment, seven involved housing and the others involved public accommodation.
Under state law, discrimination based on acquired immune deficiency syndrome is prohibited in employment and apprenticeship programs, places of public accommodation, resorts or amusements, credit transactions, the sale or lease of commercial space and in most housing transactions.
