This is according to the US rapper Ludacris, who is set to appear in the annual 46664 concert at Ellis Park on December 1.
He said: "I am so honoured to have been invited by someone like Nelson Mandela. It makes me feel great to be part of the concert."
46664, named after former president Mandela's Robben Island prison number, aims to raise awareness about HIV/Aids.
Ludacris said: "Not only performing is an honour, but I am just happy that I can use my celebrity status for something positive."
Ludacris is involved in outreach programmes. He is the founder of the Ludacris Foundation, which is aimed at helping the youth help themselves.
He said: "My foundation is one way for me to help the youth, and HIV/Aids is just one of the issues the youth have to be aware of. I try by all means to promote safe sex."
On his latest album Release Therapy, the track Runaway Love, which he recorded with Mary J Blige, is another sign of the rapper's dedication to finding solutions to social issues. The song, which deals with the abuse of women and children, has been a major success internationally.
Ludacris said: "I was thinking a lot about my own daughter when I wrote that song. Having a little girl has forced me to broaden my horizons when it comes to women, and I believe I have become a better listener."
Ludacris is set to arrive in South Africa at the end of the month.
