Help us to give Aids orphans a special festive gift

Sunday Times (Johannesburg) - October 8, 2006

THE Sunday Times fundraising drive to build a dining hall for a community ravaged by HIV/Aids in the northern KwaZulu-Natal town of Eshowe is approaching the R25000 mark.

The aim is to build a structure with all the necessary facilities for Aids orphans at the facility, which is run by the Nurturing Orphans of Aids for Humanity (Noah) - a non-governmental organisation - and funded by US President George Bush's President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR).

This week, we received R1000 from an anonymous Gauteng reader and R200 from Mr H Kantilal of Lichtenburg to take the readers' total to R24441.

This is in addition to a Sunday Times staff pledge of R10000.

Our initial goal was to raise funds until the end of September, but we have decided to keep the account open for donations.

Donors are urged to forward their particulars to us - by phone (031) 250-8500, fax (031) 250-8522 or e-mail kznextra@sundaytimes.co.za - to ensure that we publish their names with the updates.

We are still hoping to get the structure off the ground by the end of October, in time to give the orphans a festive present.

The banking details for donations are:
