Sunday Times (Johannesburg) - October 10, 2004
Sunday Times, Hollard Insurance and Deutsche Bank are holding a conference to facilitate networking between non-governmental organisations, funders and the government. The conference, on November 22, in Johannesburg, also aims to compile a database of organisations working with orphans and to identify key areas where urgent intervention is required.
About 185 delegates will be invited to attend the conference from a wide range of organisations.
If you would like to attend, please reply to aidsorphans@hollard.co.za or fax (011)240-1110 with the following information:
*Name of your organisation;
*Contact person;
*Telephone number, fax number, e-mail address; and
*Where you work (province, area, town), whether it is in a rural or urban setting and the number of children you reach.
Please specify which of the following services you offer: food and nutrition; after-school care; educational support; psychological and social support; facilitating home visits to orphans and vulnerable children; referral for health care; and help obtaining ID books or child-care grants. If you offer other services, let us know briefly what they are.
Also indicate the 10 most serious barriers you face. Chose from this list or indicate, in a few words, others: access to child-care grants; nutrition; schools fees; housing issues; psycho-social support; health care; lack of foster care or child-care facilities; safety of the children; human resources, facilities for orphans; finance and stigma.
Space is limited and participants will be chosen to be representative of the kinds of organisations operating, their locations and the types of interventions made. All applications will receive a response.
