Fortunately, most AIDS organisations recognise education as a fundamental prevention tool and see the Internet as a key way of getting in touch with young people.
Avert is one such organisation (www.avert. org/young.htm). Its site looks at safe sex issues and how people can become infected, and offers simple, sensible information on puberty, contraception and dealing with sexual feelings.
The Body (found at www.thebody.com/whatis/ children.html) carries stories of children with AIDS as well as links to articles on how to educate your children about the virus, how to tell your children you are HIVpositive, and resources like quizzes and games.
The simple YouthHIV site (www.youthhiv.org) has a useful library complete with fact sheets and advice on setting up peer education groups.
In contrast, the Aegis site (www.aegis.com) is an AIDS portal that is updated hourly with the latest AIDS news, research and references.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt/Names Project web site (www.aidsquilt.org), a 42 000-plus panelled dedication to some of those who have died from AIDS, offers educators an excellent way to highlight the serious and sad nature of the disease.
