San Francisco Chronicle - Monday, July 16, 2001
"The Bay Area consistently steps up to the plate in recognizing that AIDS is still a crisis," said Redge Norton, spokesman for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which is among the 38 Bay Area HIV and AIDS organizations that will benefit from the fund-raising event.
During the past 15 years, more than 264,500 people have raised more than $40.4 million by participating in AIDS Walk San Francisco. Norton said yesterday's event drew the same number of participants as last year's but raised $11,000 more.
"HIV/AIDS has touched so many lives in the Bay Area," Norton said. "No one thought we'd be dealing with these issues 20 years later."
