The drug, called HIVID, has been a component of HIV/AIDS treatment regimens in Europe since it got marketing clearance in Austria in 1992, Roche said in a statement. Previously it was indicated for use with people unable to benefit from AZT.
"The new indication was granted based on data from numerous studies demonstrating the benefits of ddC in combination with other agents," it said.
