In a statement the company said scientists led by Montagnier, who helped to discover the AIDS virus in 1983, would use its sheep monoclonal antibodies as part of the quest for a therapy based on kick-starting the body's immune system.
Shares in the company rose three pence to 116-1/2 in midday trading.
KS Biomedix said the identification last year of a second receptor site necessary for HIV to enter and infect cells had opened new possibilities for immunotherapy.
The company is pioneering the use of sheep monoclonal antibodies, which it believes can be used like torpedoes to carry drugs direct to infected and endangered cells in a range of diseases, including cancer.
Sheep monoclonal antibodies have been shown to have a stronger capacity to bind to cells than the rat and mice antibodies most commonly used by scientists.
"The combination of our technology and their scientific expertise and clinical experience will hopefully bring the search for a cure to AIDS another step closer," said KS Biomedix managing director Kim Tan.
