The weekly Tribuna de la Habana said two of the nine men and three women received jail sentences of two years while the rest were jailed for 18 months. The incident took place in Havana's Fe del Valle Park but the newspaper did not say when.
Blood tests taken after the 12 were arrested showed they were not suffering from AIDS. They were convicted of public disorder and "disobedience" offenses. No motive for the incident was given.
Seven of the 12 Cubans came from provinces outside Havana City and their sentences included an order that they leave the capital and remain in their provinces of origin for six years.
The communist-ruled Caribbean island has kept its AIDS cases low compared to other nations through extensive testing and a policy of isolating AIDS carriers in special sanatoriums.
Until April this year, Cuba had recorded 1,122 cases of the virus that leads to AIDS, of whom 229 had died.
