It said Stamps had shaved his head in memory of people who have died of AIDS and related diseases. Under African custom, people cut off their hair to show their grief over the death of a relative.
Stamps has been in the forefront of Zimbabwe's fight against the spread of the Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV) which causes AIDS.
According to statistics from the ministry of health, more than 100,000 Zimbabweans have died of AIDS or related diseases since the first case was reported 10 years ago.
Three weeks ago, Stamps said about 100,000 Zimbabweans -- one percent of the country's population of 10 million -- would die of AIDS-related diseases within the next 18 months.
