LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest AIDS healthcare, prevention and education provider in the United States which operates free treatment clinics in the US, Africa, Latin America/Caribbean and Asia, will observe World AIDS Day (Friday, December 1st) this Friday and throughout the weekend by joining Magic Johnson and other AIDS service organizations in three days of outreach and education, as well as free, confidential HIV testing targeting minority communities in Los Angeles.

As a featured guest on a recent episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' Magic highlighted the important role that AIDS Healthcare Foundation and its four Magic Johnson Clinics are playing in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the U.S. The AHF Magic Johnson Clinics, located in Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Jacksonville, Florida, were named in partnership with and in honor of basketball great Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Jr., who revealed his HIV-positive status in November, 1991. The four clinics are among the fourteen U.S. healthcare centers operated by AHF, which provide free lifesaving care and treatment to thousands of people living with HIV in this country.

"Magic Johnson has become a symbol of hope and courage in the face of HIV/AIDS for all Americans, but particularly for African-Americans. We applaud him for both his ongoing commitment to the fight against AIDS over these past years and for taking the opportunity this World AIDS Day to reach out to communities in need with lifesaving HIV prevention and testing messages," said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. "As the operator of the largest free alternative HIV testing program in the State of California, AHF is proud to join with the Magic Johnson Foundation and other AIDS service organizations to observe World AIDS Day 2006 by offering free prevention, education and testing services to underserved communities of Los Angeles."
