Prior to joining GMHC, Dr. Hill was Assistant Commissioner for HIV/AIDS Services at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she was instrumental in developing and implementing innovative programs to confront some of the complexities/challenges of the city's HIV/AIDS epidemic, including successful implementation of a community planning model linking HIV prevention, treatment and housing coordination, and promoting citywide distribution of over 5 million male and female condoms in 2004.
"GMHC is very fortunate to have Dr. Hill work with us again. She has a long history in working with GMHC as a Board member from 1994 to 1999 and Board co-chair from 1999 to 2001," said Ana Oliveira, Executive Director of GMHC. We are excited to have her back in a programmatic capacity to focus on issues affecting women, who are alarmingly infected and affected by HIV and AIDS," said Ana Oliveira, Executive Director of GMHC.
"It is indeed a privilege to join the long legacy of leadership at GMHC," said Dr. Hill. "In my new role, I eagerly anticipate exploring innovative approaches to strengthening the agency's multi-faceted response to the epidemic as it affects the lives of women and families -- an underserved and too frequently invisible population when it comes to HIV and AIDS." Dr. Hill will begin working at GMHC on November 29, and report directly to the agency's Executive Director, Ana Oliveira.
