Trinity Companies, Inc. and Freedom from Hunger to Co-Develop Workplace-Based HIV/AIDS Education for Global Industries

PRNewswire - December 3, 2002

CBL Global Corp., Wholly-Owned Subsidiary of Trinity Companies, Inc., To Provide Awareness and Prevention Education Through Major Employers In Mining and Other Global Industries BERKELEY, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trinity Companies, Inc. ("Trinity Companies") (OTC: TTYC), a publicly-held Utah Corporation, and Freedom from Hunger, a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and its root causes worldwide, announced today an agreement to co-develop innovative workplace-based HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention learning modules. This initiative will leverage Freedom from Hunger's extensive experience in HIV-AIDS education, gained in connection with its successful "Credit with Education" programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. CBL Global Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trinity Companies, will apply its original and proven system of competency-based learning, the "CBL System(R)," to expand the reach of Freedom from Hunger's HIV/AIDS education initiatives.

Since 1999, CBL Global Corp. has focused on refining and marketing its proprietary workplace learning system to major customers in the mining, metals refining, and electric power generation industries in Australia, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America and Africa. CBL Global has developed over 500 proprietary competency-based learning modules for targeted large-scale global industries and has issued over 10,000 competency certifications to date. CBL Global learning specialists will work with Freedom from Hunger research and curriculum professionals to apply the CBL System(R) to combating HIV/AIDS through awareness and prevention education delivered in conjunction with corporate customer's human capital management programs. CBL Global Corp. will market the HIV/AIDS education program commercially to corporate customers in global industries. Trinity Companies and Freedom from Hunger together will also seek to implement large-scale HIV/AIDS education programs in conjunction with governments, major non-government organizations (NGOs), and private not-for-profit foundations.

Christopher Dunford, President of Freedom from Hunger in Davis, California, said, "We are pleased to be working with Trinity Companies on this important project. HIV/AIDS is already a major contributor to poverty and hunger in Africa, and is expected to take an increasing toll on other continents over the next decade. We believe education is the key to saving future generations in Africa and in developing countries around the world.

Since 1996, we have developed and delivered HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention learning programs to women in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. We understand the power of education, and with Trinity Companies and CBL Global Corp., we believe we can more quickly reach people around the world who need to learn to help themselves and their families avoid the devastating grip of this disease.

Reaching hundreds of thousands of people through workplace education is a logical next step for our organization."

Edward Mooney, President of Trinity Companies, said, "We believe that Freedom from Hunger is the perfect partner for developing HIV/AIDS education programs for the workplace because of their experience in creating effective programs delivered in areas marked by illiteracy and lack of access to information. Just as Freedom from Hunger seeks to combat HIV/AIDS as a root cause of global poverty and hunger, governments and major employers, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, are increasingly viewing HIV/AIDS as a long-term threat to economic growth."

Stephen Scammell, Executive Vice President for Marketing and Business Development for CBL Global Corp., added, "CBL Global Corp. has been successful in assisting major companies in the global mining industry to deliver effective competency-based learning to their employees even when they are located in remote places in developing countries where literacy and lack of basic skills are issues. We believe every dollar spent by companies on effective HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention programs for their workforce in high risk areas will reduce the otherwise inevitable heavy future costs associated with large scale labor force turnover."
