Gen-Probe and Chiron Settle Contractual Dispute

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Gen-Probe Incorporated announced today that it and Chiron Corporation (Nasdaq: CHIR) have reached a negotiated resolution of all contractual disputes which were proceeding towards arbitration. This resolution was reached prior to the commencement of formal arbitration proceedings, which were scheduled to begin in early December.

Although the contractual disputes caused no interruption to new product development, product delivery, or customer support, they were a distraction and Gen-Probe and Chiron are pleased to put these issues behind them. The companies shall continue to support the blood screening community with renewed vigor in continuing collaborative development programs for the Triplex HCV/HIV-1/HBV assay and the fully automated instrument platform.

Gen-Probe Incorporated, a San Diego-based company, is a recognized world leader in the development, manufacture and commercialization of diagnostic products based on its patented genetic probe technologies.
