Advanced Viral Research to Present New Data at Upcoming HIV Conferences

PRNewswire - November 2, 2000

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Viral Research announced today that new data on Reticulose, their flagship product for the treatment of HIV and other viral diseases will be presented at the National AIDS Treatment Advocacy Conference held by the National Minority AIDS Council in Dallas Texas, November 9th to 12th and at the Frontiers in Drug Development for Antiretroviral Therapies HIV DART 2000 December 17-21, 2000.

This very exciting development in the field of immune base therapies for HIV disease promises to lead towards new break-throughs in our therapeutic ability to control HIV for longer duration," said Dr. Shalom Hirschman, CEO of Advanced Viral Research.

"Reticulose has presently been used by more than 100 HIV patients and has been attributed with reducing a number of the devastating consequences of antiretroviral therapy. AIDS activists and clinicians have a historic opportunity to take full advantage of the recent developments at the FDA review process for immune-based therapies to encourage the development of Reticulose," said Jeannie Gibbs of the International HIV IBT Working Group, a coalition of AIDS treatment activists dedicated to the advancement of immune-based therapies for HIV disease. "I would welcome the opportunity to explore the clinical advantages of Reticulose. The forthcoming data seems very exciting," said Dr. Diana Williamson MD M.sc, Medical Director of Brooklyn Medical Arts HIV CARE Center, one of the largest outpatient care programs for HIV patients in North America. "Many patients have exhausted their clinician options and are anxious to explore other clinical avenues to improve their tolerance to antiretroviral therapies. This forthcoming examination of Reticulose by AVR may be the first step in this much needed process."
