"The online HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory will be an important resource for health care providers seeking experimental therapies for their patients," said Kevin Robert Frost, Director of Clinical Research and Information at amfAR. "The clinical study search function enables doctors as well as patients to find the most appropriate trials of experimental drugs by anonymously entering CD4+ counts, viral loads, geographical location, or specific condition."
"This directory will be valuable to patients considering their first treatment regimen and to those patients for whom current therapies are not working," said Dr. Kenneth Mayer, Director of the Brown University AIDS Program and member of amfAR's Board of Directors. "Most important, the directory will allow health care providers and patients in the U.S. and around the world access to reliable, up-to-date HIV/AIDS treatment information."
Since it was first published in 1985, the amfAR HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory has been widely considered one of the most useful treatment resources for medical service providers and patients. The new online edition will be the most accurate, up-to-date treatment resource ever distributed by amfAR. The print edition of the HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory is updated and printed twice annually. Annual subscriptions to the print edition can be purchased by doctors and institutions by calling 1-800-39-amfAR. Persons affected by HIV can obtain the directory free-of-charge by calling AIDS Clinical Trial Information Services (ACTIS) at 800-874-2572 or the HIV/AIDS Treatment Information Services (ATIS) at 800-448-0440.
