Boston to New York AIDS Ride 5 Presented by Tanqueray to Continue Bicycling Trek From New Haven to Bridgeport After Hurricane Delays

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Boston to New York AIDS Ride 5 Presented By Tanqueray, which was cancelled yesterday for the first day of the three-day bicycling trek because of Hurricane Floyd, will continue today for a portion of the route. Over 2,550 Riders who raised $7 million for AIDS services in Boston and New York will ride approximately 20 miles from New Haven to Bridgeport Connecticut this afternoon.

The Riders will leave the New Haven Coliseum, where they spent the night, at approximately 1:00 PM today. They will travel through Stratford to Bridgeport, arriving in Bridgeport at approximately 3:00 PM. The Riders will spend the night at the Bassic High School, 1181 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport (Corner of Fairfield and Clinton).

"On Saturday, it is expected that the Riders will continue on their original route into New York as planned, said Chris Cole, National Director of Tanqueray's American AIDS Rides.

Closing Ceremonies is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 18 at 3:00PM at Eighth Avenue and Fourteenth Street in New York.

Boston to New York AIDS Ride 5 Presented By Tanqueray benefits AIDS- related services at Boston's Fenway Community Health Center and New York's Lesbian & Gay Community Health Center and Callen-Lorde Community Health Center. Approximately 2,550 bicyclists will participate in the 275-mile ride from Boston to New York September 16 - 18. It's the adventure of a lifetime and a life-changing experience both for the riders and for those using the HIV/AIDS services made possible by the Ride.
