Experiments using a more concentrated version of the drug resulted in up to 90% killing of the HIV virus in cell culture with no toxicity to the cells. Prior testing which was reported in a press release dated August 19, 1998, cited potent anti-HIV activity using a diluted strength of this new drug.
Tests were conducted at a major NIH (National Institute of Health) approved HIV research center.
These results demonstrating anti-HIV activity over a broad range of concentrations of this novel drug provide further evidence of the reliability and reproducibility of its effects.
"We are very encouraged by the fact that MDI-P is effective in either diluted or concentrated strength," stated William J. Novick, Ph.D., VP and Chief Technical Officer.
Experiments are continuing to maximize the drug's efficacy. Medical Discoveries, Inc. intends to submit an Investigational New Drug Application (INDA) upon the completion of certain testing currently in progress.
