"Many immunoassays to detect HIV and H. pylori infection require constant refrigeration, increasing overhead and limiting point-of-care usage. Extension of the shelf life of our rapid tests reflects the durability and stability of our products, enhancing our competitiveness in the marketplace," said SDS President and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth McLachlan. "The data apply to all of our HIV rapid tests, which use serum, whole blood or saliva for analysis. As we continue to collect data, we expect stability results to increase for our H. pylori test, as well.
"Having a longer shelf life makes it possible for our products to be ordered in larger quantities, since customers can expect the tests to perform even if they sit in customs or are in transit for extended periods. Because our tests are also fast, easy to use and do not require additional equipment," said McLachlan, "we believe they are extremely cost effective and attractive to customers, especially in areas where HIV and H. pylori infection are rampant."
