Panafrican News Agency - July 30, 2001
The Ivorian junior minister in charge of AIDS control, Assana Sangare, recently visited Cote d'Ivoire's south-eastern border for the official launch of the sub-regional programme.
The border villages of Noe and Elibou in the area are the major entry and exit points for goods and people between Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana.
The strategic choice of border areas to carry out effective AIDS control programmes was welcome by all partners dealing with health in Cote d'Ivoire.
Border areas are major points for AIDS awareness programmes because they serve as pools of concentration of people on the move.
