Victoire Benao, president of the national pharmacists association, announced the decision in Ouagadougou on Wednesday during a press conference held at the fringes of the 12th International Conference on AIDS and STDs in Africa, which ends Thursday.
The association, which was created last year, comprises pharmacists working in private pharmacies, clinics, laboratories as well as those in public hospitals.
It protects the confidentiality regarding the serologic state of the patients by training the employees in the domain.
However, the association which also promised to continue counselling people living with HIV warned that it would only keep its promises if the State accepts to provide them with the antiretroviral drugs.
At the moment, only the central purchasing agency for essential generic medicines known as CAMEG is authorised to distribute and sell antiretroviral drugs in Burkina Faso.
The association further pledged to help influence a reduction in the price of medicines that are also used in the treatment of other AIDS-related diseases.
"The success of this strategy depends on the involvement of both the State and networks of people living with HIV/AIDS," Benao said.
