International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Africa (CISMA) chairman, Prof. Robert Soudre, said the continent was counting on the energy and creativity of its youth for new and more efficient strategies at combating HIV/AIDS.
"Your comrades expect the conference to come up with something new," Soudre told the youths, adding "we invite you to come off the beaten track and play a key role along with the international community fighting HIV/AIDS."
As explained by coordinator Bagnomboe Bakiono, the forum essentially provides a platform for the youth to develop and enhance their capacity to initiate action against HIV/AIDS.
Sponsored by the Burkinabe ministries of Social Welfare and Youth and Sports, the forum is attended by 250 representatives of AIDS control associations from 26 African countries as well as Belgium and the US.
Soudre urged the youth to be at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
