New York: AIDS Financing Increased

The New York Times - Wednesday, March 3, 2004
Jennifer Steinhauer (NYT); Compiled by Anthony Ramirez

New York City has received the largest Ryan White Title I grant ever awarded from the federal government. The grant, $122 million, was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services to finance H.I.V.-AIDS services and is $18.2 million more than the city received last year. "The increase in funding was merited by strengthening our coordination of H.I.V. services and federal recognition" that the disease disproportionately affects the city, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said in a written statement. Jennifer Steinhauer (NYT)
