The New York Times - November 21, 1985

An auction of contemporary art at Sotheby's to benefit the Gay Men's Health Crisis raised $663,350 last night, one of the highest totals ever for a benefit auction.

Over 600 people gathered to bid on 83 works by such artists as De Kooning, Rauschenberg, Twombly and Hockney, all of which were donated by the artists. The auction, Organized by Nathan Kolodner of the Andre Emmerich Gallery, was supported by the Art Dealers Association.
