The Bishop, Paul Moore, led a delegation of AIDS victims and supporters here in an appeal to the Governor and legislative leaders for funds for research and for services to victims of AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
Bishop Moore said that he was "shocked" and "let down" that Governor Cuomo had not provided the money in his proposed budget and that if money were not added, "many New Yorkers would feel betrayed."
Last year, the budget provided $5.2 million for AIDS research and treatment. But this year Mr. Cuomo, rejecting the advice of his Health Commissioner, Dr. David Axelrod, provided no additional funds.
