The seminar was also attended by members from World Vision and the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC). "The talking ammunition has done a lot in Uganda but people are beginning to relax because of the new technologies and medicine. We want the church to continue delivering the HIV/AIDS message," Zaramba said.
He said maternal health also needed attention. "We should stop women dying of maternal complications. Statistics in Uganda indicate that 35,000 out of every 100,000 women die as compared to Sweden where only 3 to 5 die out of 100,000 pregnant women," he noted.
Thomas Sithole, an UOC member from Zimbabwe, said UOC would fight the scourge through sports. The National Council of Sports secretary, Jasper Aligawesa, urged sports leaders to talk to the youth about the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
"We should teach the youth about HIV/AIDS using stories like our ancestors did," he said.
