The agreement replaced one signed 46 years ago and it allowed the expansion of the Peace Corps in the country.
According to a statement from the foreign affairs ministry, the agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Regional Affairs, Isaac Musumba and Ronald Tschetter, the Director of United States Corps.
The Peace Corps is an independent United States federal agency, established in 1961.
Peace Corps are supposed to promote world peace and friendship. American citizens qualified and willing to serve abroad under conditions of hardship if necessary, will help Ugandans meet their needs for trained manpower.
Tschetter said the Peace Corps volunteers would train Ugandan secondary school teachers. The programme will initially involve 10 teacher trainers.
Tschetter appreciated the good relationship between Uganda and the United States Peace Corps.
He said people in America respect and admire President Yoweri Museveni for tackling Uganda's health challenges, especially HIV/AIDS.
Musumba thanked Tschetter and his team for the initiative.
