Part of the funds will finance a media campaign to highlight the plight of disabled persons in accessing health services.
Speaking at the launch of the campaign in Kamwokya, recently, Christine Mulindwa, the country representative of Action on Disability and Development, said the campaign is part of NUDIPU's HIV/AIDS activities that aim at reducing the vulnerability of persons with disabilities (PWDs) to HIV infection.
"PWDs often face discrimination, stigmatisation and communication challenges, which prohibits them from taking advantage of the existing health and educational services," Mulindwa said.
Under the campaign, radio messages have been designed to rouse public interest in HIV/AIDS among persons with disabilities.
"Persons with disabilities are at high risk of getting infected with HIV due to their low level of awareness and the inability to defend themselves in case of rape," Mulindwa said.
Jack Mirembe, the assistant commissioner in charge of disability in the gender ministry, said the campaign will inform PWDs about HIV/AIDS services.
