The facility at Ogur sub-county will be used for HIV/AIDS testing and counselling, testing young pregnant mothers, screening for sexually transmitted infections and dissemination of information on the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
David Alula, an official of the NGO, said internet facilities would also be installed the centre. "We carried out a formative survey among youth and found out that although many of them had heard about HIV/AIDS, they were not able to change their attitude. That is why we decided to build this centre," Alula explained. He made the remarks last week while inspecting the facility with the district engineer, Jimmy Makmot Adwek. The centre will be commissioned on September 29, by the health minister, Dr. Stephen Malinga.
Alula also said his NGO would build a sh70m health centre at Apala.
