Dr. Richard Nduhuura said people should not shy away from buying condoms in public.
"Let us not be shy about AIDS because the disease itself is not shy to get us when we fail to protect ourselves," Nduhuura told health journalists during a workshop at the Grand Imperial Hotel, Kampala.
He said the Government was committed to the ABC (Abstinence, Be faithful and Condom) strategy to check the spread of the AIDS scourge.
"Let us attack AIDS from all angles. If A and B fail, do not forget C.
"Do not go into action with 'naked heads'. Always move with protective wear." Nduhuura revealed that the Ministry of Health had started distributing free condoms in villages.
"The condoms will be given out by community distributors in public places. This will help the shy group."
The minister explained that to check on increasing reports of expiring drugs, donors were being restricted from offering drugs to the National Medical Stores without the ministry's knowledge.
Nduhuura asked the participants to use the skills acquired to give people accurate and well-resourced information.
