Stephen (Joseph Mabirizi), the protagonist, heads Save a Life from Aids, a club that lobbies support for people living with HIV/Aids in the school.
The club also sensitises students about the dangers of contracting HIV/Aids.
But Mr Kaggwa (Robert Kagimu) the patron of the club is corrupt; he swindles the club's money.
When Stephen threatens to report him to the school administration, Kaggwa instead blackmails him for misusing the club's funds. Consequently, Stephen is sacked from the school and is now alone in the world.
His parents and sisters Harriet (Helen Kampire) and Barbara (Dauphin Ahimbisibwe) died of HIV/Aids, hence the title of the film Stand Alone.
